Hi, I’m Mark Schrenko

An industrial designer by training with a career that’s zig‑zagged through tech, product, and systems design—but has always returned to the ocean. ShoreVize isn’t just a business for me; it’s a reflection of a lifelong pull toward the water, a healthy respect for its power, and a lingering caution around sharks that never fully goes away when you’re out beyond the break.

My background spans industrial design, UX/product roles at Apple and Disney, enterprise SaaS (LogicHub, Honeycomb.io), and building a product company from scratch — which is the experience set I'm applying to ShoreVize. I’m using my design and technology background to build clean, low‑impact coastal infrastructure—zero capture, zero harm, and effectively zero footprint on marine life—that gives humans better awareness without asking wildlife to pay the price. My goal is to help coastal communities create truly safer swim zones and surf breaks, so anyone can experience the joy of the ocean with real peace of mind, while we move toward a more peaceful coexistence between people and the animals that call these waters home.

My Approach

I approach this problem like a designer and a surfer: start with empathy for both people and wildlife, then engineer calm into the chaos. ShoreVize is an early‑warning detection system—not a deterrent—using clean, non‑invasive sonar buoys and simple green/red visual cues to surface what’s happening offshore before it reaches the swim zone, so operators can act sooner without nets, hooks, or harm.

Where ShoreVize Stands Today

ShoreVize is a concept-stage venture. There is no prototype yet, no field-validated system, and no signed customer or pilot commitment. The current focus is:

  • Refining the technical architecture

  • Recruiting a technical co-founder with marine sensing or ocean hardware expertise

  • Engaging additional coastal operators and surf lifesaving organizations

  • Preparing for prototype development (targeted Q2–Q3 2026) and first pilot design

Early stakeholder discovery has included a conversation with surf lifesaving leadership at Dee Why Beach, NSW, Australia — useful directional input that has helped shape the concept.

Who ShoreVize Wants to Work With

ShoreVize is actively seeking connections with:

  • Technical co-founder — marine sensing, sonar, or ocean hardware engineering background; significant equity partnership

  • Surf lifesaving organizations and coastal safety agencies open to pilot conversations

  • Municipal beach operators exploring next-generation safety infrastructure

  • Ocean technology accelerators interested in early-stage coastal hardware concepts

  • Public-safety innovation programs and blue-tech investors
